STRIDER™ / ストライダー飛竜®

Este me surpreendeu: não só por se encaixar no estilo metroidvania, mas por ser um exemplar muito bem feito do gênero (facilmente um dos melhores que já joguei). Eu conhecia o Strider Hiryu, personagem principal, através do jogo Marvel vs Capcom, e esse foi o meu primeiro jogo solo da série. A experiência foi bem positiva, não só em relação à jogabilidade, mas toda a ambientação da aventura (pegada oriental futurista). Para quem já assistiu Samurai X, vai se sentir o verdadeiro retalhador jogando este aqui: a ação é muito rápida e dinâmica, e conforme se vai avançando na campanha, a troca ágil de habilidades adquiridas se torna mais necessária. Como todo exemplar do gênero "metroidvania", você tem um grande mundo aberto, em que algumas partes só podem ser acessadas futuramente conforme você vai desbloqueando habilidades. Eh, it's nut much of a metroidvania. It's more of an old school platformer. It's pretty easy and straight forward. There doesn't appear to be parry or block. Combat is a bit blah.

As soon as I started playing Strider I knew that I was going to be a fan of this game. Strider is an excellent game that has addicting controls and excellent gameplay. It never gets old to slice and dice through enemies and upgrades are excellent like the dash through the air and ability to reflect energy bolts. Also the game is easy to navigate thanks to a proximity meter that tells you exactly where to go. Exploring is easy and it's great to go around and collect health, energy and other upgrades. If I have any sort of criticism it's the fact that the game is kind of too easy on Regular. I'm far from a pro gamer and I rarely died more than once to any boss. But that might be appealing. Strider is an excellent example of a game that doesn't reinvent any sort of previous gameplay but it perfects it enough to be an easy buy.

The most fun B- metroidvania out there. It doesn't do anything to really stand out but it doesn't do anything especially poorly either. Solidly engaging. Not too difficult and not too easy either. It's on sale pretty often and if you're looking for something to scratch that Metroidvania itch it'll so a solid job.
